Thanksgiving Holiday Hunts - Comanche County,
Texas
 |
| Thanksgiving hunts are always fun because
family is together. The flip side is that it's deer season and most sites
are not accessible. This is one of the few camps that is safe to hunt this
time of year and it always produces. It's a late Paleo/Early Archaic Camp
with a pre-historic component as well. |

 |
| Perched on its own sand dune, we had 6 more
weeks of winter after this Early Archaic point saw its shadow. |
  |
| Is it all there? |
  |
| Another early Archaic point with both a
beveled stem and a beveled blade. The stem on this one indicates Nolan
however I don't recall seeing another Nolan with a beveled stem. A handful
of Pandale points have been found on this site as well. This is far from the
typical geographic footprint of the Pandale which is the Pecos region far to
the southwest from here. Turner and Hester state the Pandale is
'occasionally found in central Texas'. |
