| This is a differnt road about a quarter of a mile from the
other road shown on page 1. This road also cuts through a campsite. I have seen the burned
rock for quite a while but if you look closely in the center of the road an old fire ring
is visible along with the gray-ish discoloration in the soil from the ash. Many points
have been found here as well. A bevelled, serrated Darl was the last point found here.
Notice how the road has "cut" down into the small rise. This ring was only about
1.0' below the original surface. |

| What a beautiful site. Here is a Pedernales point as it
was found in the plowed field below the road alongside the creek. |

| This is a close-up of the ring shown at the top of the
page. The soil in this area of the field is primarily dark brown loam and red clay.
Erosion has taken its toll on this one but you can clearly make out the grayish ash
discoloration to the soil. Unfortunately there was no sunlight for the photo so the it is
not as obvious in this picture as it was in person. |
